FAQ

1. What can I expect from an Ecstatic Dance?

Ecstatic is a free form dance to help you to reconnect with your body and yourself. There are no "choreo's", no dancemoves, so no "right or wrong". You dance how and what you feel, or what your body tells you it needs and how it wants to move!

It uses a lot of different music styles and genres (think african vibes, indian, oriental, rock, drum 'n base.. or even pop).. It is very eclectic.

Ecstatic differs from other danceparties because it consciously chooses to follow these 5 rules:

1. No talking on the dancefloor. Dance is our language
2. We dance barefoot
3. No use of substances (alcohol, drugs)
4. Openmindedness and no judging. Respect for fellow dancers!
5. No phones on the dancefloor

2. What do I need to bring to an Ecstatic Dance?

Your beautifull Self! But a bottle of water also comes in handy, because it can get sweaty ;)

3. I have never done yoga before and/or I am not flexible

Excellent, welcome to the wonderfull world of yoga! I really enjoy teaching to absolute beginners. We take it slow, learn how to listen to what your body needs and gradually build up. You will see, feel and experience the difference in your body! And it comes sooner than you might think!

4. I want to learn how to meditate, but I can't focus or still my mind

Exactly, I hear you! Learning how to meditate takes practise.. and patience..However, it is completely worth the effort! So, how do you best start? I recommend guided meditations and visualisations because the voice and images help you to better focus and to centre you back to your breath (key role in meditation). But still, be kind with yourself, our monkey minds flutter away so easily.. It is part of the process.
